CAREERS

Not too long ago, there was a lot of discussion on the WSCA listserve regarding career sites and the need for more ideas to implement the career component of the Wisconsin Developmental Guidance Model.  I am including a variety of career related web sites.  In researching and visiting all the sites listed, I was very impressed with the wealth of information that is available to counselors, parents, and students.  I also thought the timing for these discussions was appropriate as it connects with State Superintendent, Elizabeth Burmaster’s “New Wisconsin Promise.”  This promise includes programs and initiatives that support career and technical education.  The career component of our guidance model, provides an excellent opportunity to create community, school, and parent partnerships.  Career days, career speakers, hobby days, and special career speaker lunch days exemplify ways to combine all.
