Wisconsin School Counselor Association MISSION
To advance the profession of school counseling, preschool through post-secondary education, in order to maximize the academic, career, and personal-social growth of all students.

2008-2009 Work Plans
The WSCA Board has identified four areas of focus. Our two year focus should be in the following four areas:
1. “One Vision, One Voice”-connecting school counselors with each other, to strengthen our vision for student learning and growth in Wisconsin.
2. To focus a strong voice in the direction of our state legislators.
3. To ensure key stakeholders not only see and hear our vision and voice for school counseling, but understand the school counseling profession.
4. To capitalize on the use of technology as a tool to communicate our vision to professional school counselors as well as key stakeholders.
2008-2009 Work goals
The WSCA Board has identified four goals to address the areas of focus. The goals are as follows:
I. To promote professional development of school counselors and graduate students in training.
A. How the goal is addressed
Annually completed:
1. Hold the WSCA annual conference. (Conference Committee)
2. Hold WSCA graduate classes at the WSCA annual conference. (Conference Committee)
3. Hold the WSCA LDI. (President)
4. Hold the Summer Leadership Academy. (Education/Professional Development)
5. Maintain website. (Technology Committee)
6. Continue to publish the Counselink on a quarterly schedule. (Publications)
7. Provide first year of membership free to school counseling graduate students. (Membership)
8. Maintain the SPARC-W process for submissions (Education/Professional Development)
6 month:
1. Create and collect resources for practicing school counselors (VP/VP Elects)
2. Dedicated section of website for the VP’s. (Technology and VP/VP Elects)
3. Develop a resource page for WSCA members on the website (PR/Advocacy)
4. Educate non-members about the web site and the wealth of resources available with membership. (PR/Advocacy)
1 year:
1. Promote ASCA conference for WSCA members (Education/Professional Development)
2. Develop training related to the new Wisconsin Model for Comprehensive School Counseling and ASCA National Models (Education/Professional Development)
3. Offer a conference presentation related to how to do and use research (Evaluation & Accountability)
2+ year:
II. To promote partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders and educational professionals to benefit school counselors and students.
A. How the goal is addressed
Annually completed:
1. Send a WSCA representative to WAPSO meetings. (President and Past-President)
2. Maintain a liaison relationship with DPI school counseling consultant. (President)
3. Provide scholarships to high school students for post-secondary education. (Scholarship/Recognition Comm.)
6 month:
1. Friend of Counseling Award (Scholarship & Awards)
2. Lead sectionals at other professional conferences (Board)
1 year:
1. Establish a relationship with teacher unions to educate them about the state of the school counseling profession. (PR/Advocacy)
2+ year:
1. Create and offer web site sections for parents, legislators, administrators, grad student, etc. (PR/Advocacy, Technology, Grad Students)
III. To give direction to issues of concern to school counselors and promote and advocate for the profession of school counseling.
